About
UKE Microscopy Imaging Facility (UMIF)
Founded in 2011, the aim of UKE Microscopy Imaging Facility (UMIF) was to serve the research community and to promote networking between imaging groups in Hamburg. Please find out more about UMIF, services and partners below.
Services
As a facility, UMIF's goal is to support and enhance UKE research with technology and know-how. Explore here, what we can offer you.
Microscopes and image analysis workstations
UMIF provides several state-of-the-art microscopes. UMIF microscopes can provide detailed overviews of organ sections, tissues, organoids and embryos or alternatively resolve biological structures down to molecular scale resolution in fixed and living specimen. We are also equipped with advanced workstations and software, enabling image analysis and quantification.
Training, courses and workshops
UMIF aim is the maintenance and transfer of light microscopy knowledge to the research community.
We offer user training on UMIF microscopes tailored to customer's specimen and goals.
We offer theoretical and practical light microscopy courses on all the aspects involving light microscopy: experiment design, sample preparation, basic and advanced imaging techniques, imaging data visualization, analysis and quantification
Every year, UMIF is hosting several workshops (with lectures and hand-on sections), introducing and testing state-of-the-art microscopy solutions.
Cutting-edge bio-imaging assays
You need protocols for your super-resolution sample preparation? Or a script for cluster analysis? How do I view my data? We can assist you in the design of your experiment and help you create a cutting-edge bio-imaging assay from sample preparation to quantification.
Strategical development
Whether you need assistance for the microscopy part of your grant proposal, or you think UMIF might be a good collaborator for your research project - contact the head of the UKE Microscopy Imaging Facility, Dr. Antonio Virgilio Failla, to explore your possibilities.
