The UKE Microscopy Imaging Facility (UMIF) is a widely recognized core facility for light microscopy in Germany. Its particular strength lies in the development and establishment of new tools for super-resolution light microscopy and their application in biomedical imaging. This success is largely driven by the productive exchange between the facility’s users and its staff, as well as by the shared commitment of everyone involved. On November 10th, we will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the UMIF. As part of the celebration, three outstanding scientists will present their work. Nobel laureate Stefan W.Hell (Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences, Göttingen) will begin by discussing powerful imaging techniques that enable the investigation of phenomena at the molecular level. This will be followed by Catherine Meyer-Schwesinger and Stefan Lechner from UKE, who will show how super-resolution microscopy has become an integral part of their groundbreaking biomedical research. The event will conclude with a small buffet, giving us an opportunity to celebrate what we have achieved together. The registration deadline is: 02.11.2026.
