UMIF together with UKE scientific community is organizing the second UKE “microscopy from single molecule to living embryo”. This course is the follow up of the first UKE “light microscopy from single molecules to living embryo”. As you can see the word “light” has been removed because this year also Electron microscopy for biomedical application will be covered. Other added topics are: sample preparation for basic advanced and super resolution microscopy. This course will run between November and January and will consist of 17 lectures for a total of 34 hours (that will provide you didactic credits). The course is made for everyone who want to learn about microscopy from the basic concepts to the more advanced super resolution techniques. In this course will be stressed out how important is the design of a light microscopy experiments and the huge impact that sample preparation has on their successful outcome. Last but not least some basic notion of image analysis and quantification will also be offered. If you are interested in widen your horizon including microscopy in your knowledge portfolio this course is made for you, especially if you would like to get inspired regarding which images techniques are available at UKE and how they could impact your research projects.
